Recap this year’s shoot for the team and discuss the importance of branding with us as a salon.
The Vision: Every shoot has to start with a vision. What’s the aesthetic looking like? What are the vibes? This usually begins with some type of vision board, in our case this means using Pinterest to gain some inspiration. The main things we’re looking to nail down in this process are going to be color palette, posing ideas, and dress code/expectations.
Stylist and Team Photos: These photos are essentially a “first impression” to anyone that comes across our website or socials, and we take a lot of pride in looking our best on shoot day. We hype each other up, listen to some good music, and just try to make it fun!
We also like to give each team member an opportunity to take individual photos to have for their own use. These are so important to have because it allows the stylist to really let their personality shine! In addition to that, it allows each of our stylists to feel proud of the content they put out on social media.
The Importance of Branding: Branding is crucial for any business, but in our case there are two avenues within branding – one being the salon as a whole and the other being more personal to each stylist/team member. The salon focused portion should feel cohesive and tailored. In our team photos, we want to exude powerful, professional energy! For the personal side, this is where each stylist can have a bit of freedom and pick the poses that they feel most confident in. Having a polished repertoire of photos is just like a lawyer or real estate agent having headshots for their business. These are the little things that we feel set us apart from other salons – we want our team to know we care about their brand as an individual just as much as we care about our brand as a whole.
